Some of the other contributions were read at a Zoom session in Ledbury’s online Festival in July 2020. This poem was later made into a short film that is now on YouTube Thank you to everyone for their contribution. I have found these poems extremely resonant, and I hope you will too. Other ways of thinking about, or seeing, what is happening in this present time. Nonetheless, in reading these poems, I find reflections on, and insight into, my own experiences. I am aware, as many people are, that for people and places in the world, the challenges are huge and sometimes extremely harrowing, compared to my own. Though of course everyone’s individual experience of this situation is unique. These poems were written during Lockdown and the Coronavirus pandemic, at a time when it seemed the whole country, and in fact the whole world was going through the same crisis. They read alongside poets who submitted to Ledbury Poetry Festival’s online call out. The event featured a fascinating selection of Lockdown inspired poems, including poets commissioned by LPF, Naomi Shihab Nye, Sarala Estruch, Suzannah Evans, Elaine Beckett and Kim Moore. Unfortunately, even if your idea is officially in development, it can be years before the gears start turning to get it actually made. But a couple of the studios that I have been at (Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon) usually take your idea into development to be made as a short. What I mean by this is that I have only worked for a few studios in all my career, so I don’t know how others handle the production process once an idea is approved. This is where my information starts getting a little shaky. Then it’s up to the big wigs to decide whether or not to put your cartoon into production. Once the creator has set up a meeting with the development department and network execs, they pitch their idea through their pitch bible and hope for the best. Pitch bibles usually include a plot synopsis, character bios, themes that are explored within your show, examples of what the show would look like, and short episode ideas. It’s also beneficial to have a short storyboard at some point to really sell the mood and characters you’re going for.Ī page from Adventure Time’s pitch bible. Most pitches are presented with what is commonly referred to as a pitch bible, which is, at its core, basically a powerpoint presentation explaining the idea behind your cartoon and making sure that it comes across exactly as it is in your head. That’s just how it is: executives feel safer knowing that the person pitching has been familiar with the studio for a long time and that they know what sensibilities the network is looking for. Hell, even studio interns, who are encouraged to pitch their ideas, almost never get anywhere. It’s near impossible to come in as an unknown fresh face, pitch to the network, and have your cartoon made. Then it’s up to network executives and the development department to make the call whether or not to greenlight (means “approve”) the idea to go into production.Īs it typically happens, most cartoon pitches come from artists within the studio who have already been working at that studio or in animation for a while. Whether it’s an original idea, an adaptation or a reboot/remake, there is always a human (or two or more!) who stands behind the idea and pitches it to a network. Starting at the very beginning, all cartoons have to come from somewhere. With that said, this might be a lengthy read, so let’s go! This post is influenced heavily by my own individual experience, as well as friends’. **DISCLAIMER** All images in this post have been sourced from blogs, twitters, scribd and flickr pages are publicly available, and no internal studio materials have been used that have not been already published publicly online. This is not a concrete explanation of how every cartoon is made this is simply a generalized look at the “typical” television pipeline. Even cartoons made within the same studio could have wildly different production guidelines. Please note: all studios and productions are different. I wanted to make the basics available to everyone, so here’s a quick rundown through the TV pipeline. I’ve been storyboarding for television for a while now, and there still aren’t clear resources for those wanting to get into the industry. There’s a lot of missing bits of information and a lot of straight up lies that get circulated as fact as people try to scramble to put the pieces together on how cartoons for television are actually made. Nowadays, many kids in school have a dream career that they don’t really know much about. I’m sure it would’ve been better to study somewhere in California (like CalArts) to be better informed about this stuff, but I didn’t have that opportunity. Even my professors at college knew very little about the industry as it is today. When I was in school and wanted to work in animation, there was very little information about how cartoons are actually made. 29 March the Iraqi Dinar had revalued in-country and was …ĭinar guru 2017acum 1 zi - 15, 2018 to 4-20-2020 | 12-20-2020 to 5-26-21 | 6-16-2021 to present) Dinar guru updates from Iraqi dinar gurus on latest dinar recaps and …ĭinar Detectivesiraqi dinar revaluation iraqi dinar news 2014 iraqi dinar news iraqi dinar rv iraqi dinar value iraqi dinar rv iraqi dinar exchange rate iraqi dinar revalue Quick, easy and consolidated, all on “Our Blog” …ĭinar detectiveNet/iqd-calls-open-mic/wingit/ Masters Trust – Wingit Call with Richard Howard – SeeCompiled Mon. Incognito's introductory screen also displays a toggle - it's on by default - along with text that states third-party cookies will be blocked while in the privacy mode. As of Chrome 83, it also puts a toggle on the screen for blocking third-party cookies. GoogleĮach time a new Incognito window is opened, Chrome reminds users what Incognito doesn't save. The message may get tiresome for regular Incognito users, but it may also save a job or reputation it's important that users remember Incognito doesn't prevent ISPs, businesses, schools and organizations from knowing where customers, workers, students, and others went on the web or what they searched for. Chrome also reminds users of just what Incognito does and doesn't do each time a new window is opened. The new Incognito window can be recognized by the dark background and the stylized "spy" icon just to the left of the three-dots menu. Open a new Incognito window in Chrome using keyboard shortcuts or from the menu (1) by choosing New Incognito window (2). The easiest way to open an Incognito window is with the keyboard shortcut combination Ctrl-Shift-N (Windows) or Command-Shift-N (macOS).Īnother way is to click on the menu on the upper right - it's the three vertical dots - and select New Incognito Window from the list. How to go incognito in Google ChromeĪlthough incognito may be a synonym to some users for any browser's private mode, Google gets credit for grabbing the word as the feature's snappiest name when it launched the tool in late 2008, just months after Chrome debuted. To prove that, we've assembled instructions and insights on using the incognito features - and anti-tracking tools - offered by the top four browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft's Chromium-based Edge, Mozilla's Firefox and Apple's Safari. Private browsing will, by necessity, always be a niche, as long as sites rely on cookies for mundane things like log-ins and cart contents.īut the mode remains a useful tool whenever the browser - and the computer it's on - are shared. It's much easier to turn on some level of anti-tracking by default than it would be to do the same for private sessions, as evidenced by the number of browsers that do the former without complaint while none do the latter. Using either private browsing or anti-tracking carries a cost: site passwords aren't saved for the next visit or sites break under the tracker scrubbing. To end that cognitive dissonance, most browsers have added more advanced privacy tools, generically known as "anti-trackers," which block various kinds of bite-sized chunks of code that advertisers and websites use to trace where people go in attempts to compile digital dossiers or serve targeted advertisements.Īlthough it might seem reasonable that a browser's end game would be to craft a system that blends incognito modes with anti-tracking, it's highly unlikely. But your traipses through the web are still traceable by Internet providers – and the authorities who serve subpoenas to those entities – employers who control the company network and advertisers who follow your every footstep. Mozilla Firefox's Private Browsing modeĪt their most basic, these features promise that they won't record visited sites to the browsing history, save cookies that show you've been to and logged into sites, or remember credentials like passwords used during sessions. It's meant to hide, and not always conclusively at that, your tracks from others with access to the personal computer. That's it. I can see that those are available to edit on iMazing Profile Editor, but I don't yet know which options are available for configuring them. That's because private browsing is intended to wipe local traces of where you've been, what you've searched for, the contents of forms you've filled. I'd like to duplicate these efforts for Firefox and for Safari if possible. Has anyone tried this before? Does using a forced incognito mode raise any red flags? A user can still sign into user accounts such as Gmail in incognito. Having incognito forced might give us all we need. Then, I found these options for setting " Incognito Mode Availability": I have found many options for Chrome in iMazing for tweaking settings that will help, such as removing the ability to sign into the Google Chrome profile, and disabling autofill, etc. Right now, I'm using the iMazing Profile Editor to develop property lists for the settings. I am looking for ways to disable logging into the Chrome browser, and (if possible) a method for removing browsing history/cookies/cached data, etc. I'm creating a Google Chrome configuration for managing settings on multiuser computers (that have many users every day using the same computer and account). Because Mimestream uses Google’s Gmail APIs, search is fast and reliable, in my experience. The message pane includes a customizable toolbar with options for the most common actions you can take on messages, plus a search field for searching your messages. Swipe left or right on an item in the message list, and it will reveal an action you’ve assigned in the app’s Settings. Mimestream supports customizable swipe gestures too. The middle column of Mimestream is the message list, which can be viewed in a compact or expanded format. Plus, I handle most of my email on the Mac anyway, so switching to Apple Mail on my iPhone or iPad isn’t as difficult for me as it might be for others.įilters allow me to do things like extract new betas from the sea of messages about existing betas. However, every rule has an exception, and Mimestream is one of those. That’s one of the reasons I prefer Logic Pro for iPad over Ferrite, for instance. As a rule, I don’t like using different apps on different platforms to do the same thing. The bigger deal is that Mimestream isn’t on iOS or iPadOS. As a result, I’ve continued to use Apple Mail for my iCloud email address, which isn’t a big deal because it’s not an account I use for many things anyway. However, because I handle most of my email on the Mac and most of what I’d like to see Mimestream incorporate is planned or under consideration for future updates, it’s become how I manage most of my email.Īs I mentioned at the outset, Mimestream is Gmail and Mac only. The app doesn’t have everything I want from an email client. What drew me back to Mimestream was the app’s native design, tight integration with Gmail, and open roadmap. I’ve been using Mimestream on and off for over a year, returning to it in late January after briefly trying Missive. All but my iCloud email are connected to Gmail, which makes me a pretty strong candidate for Mimestream, which launched this week after a couple years in beta. Two are work-related, and two are personal. If you spend a lot of time on other devices or have non-Gmail accounts, the call is tougher, but that’s exactly my situation, and I think Mimestream is still the best Mac email choice for most people. It offers the core Gmail experience wrapped in a thoughtfully designed native Mac app. If you primarily use Gmail and work on a Mac, you should try Mimestream now. I’m going to straight-up spoil this review for you at the top. Measure away from the wall on both ends of the bricks that you just laid. Put your level on top of them and make sure the bricks are level. If you are by yourself, then start at one end and lay a few bricks. You want to add about 3/8 of an inch onto the length of the bricks to compensate for the mortar in between the bricks called a “joint”.Now that you have measured you can start laying bricks at both ends. For example, if your brick is 9 5/8 inches long, then you would measure down your wall and mark a few marks at 10 inch intervals. Measure your bricks and see how long they are. Bricks come in a wide variety of sizes: short, long, wide, skinny etc. Measure from the outer edge of the brick at one end to outer edge of the brick at the other end to get the length of your wall. Start by putting a brick down at each end of where you want the wall to go. If there isn’t you’ll need to pour a concrete footing several days in advance to support your wall. If you are laying bricks against a house, make sure that there is enough foundation sticking out to support the bricks. In making a brick, first Make sure you have all the tools that you will need. In Taal, Batangas, the main street is also lined with examples of the traditional Filipino homes. Excellent preserved examples of these houses of the illustrious Filipinos can be admired in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. It is a mixture of native Filipino, Spanish and Chinese influences. The bahay na bato was constructed out of brick and stone rather than the traditional bamboo materials. Some huts have an open back porch or batalan, used as a depository for water jars, a cellar or silong is used for most household chores and a silid or alcove for stashing the mats and pillows after use. The housetop is high inclined and open gabled to allow fumigation it is fitted with wide overhang eaves, to provide shade from the hot sun and keeping the rain out. Its steeply sloping high-pitched roof shed rain and provides sufficient room for warm air to escape as a cooling air flow will enter through the porous bamboo walls and floor. There are awning type windows on all sides, which will keep the interior well-ventilated, and that can be sealed off from the elements by a series of sliding panels. The primitive nipa hut is actually based on the Spanish phrase Cubo, meaning cube, probably because of its rectangular appearance and bahay is the Filipino word for house.Ī Bahay Kubo is built to give a welcome refuge in the rainy season and provides shade in the hot summer. The history and culture of the Philippines are reflected in its architectural heritage, in the dwellings of its various peoples, in churches and mosques, and in the buildings that have risen in response to the demands of progress and the aspirations of the people. What are the advantages would be describe in bahay kubo to bahay na bato? Now, how it’s the bahay kubo influenced by bahay na bato? We all know that bahay kubo (nipa hut) are one of the old houses here in Philippines. And we are not shy about it, we dream of living in these villages.“Bahay kubo, kahit munti, ang halaman doon, ay sari sari…” We compromise certain features or materials of these styles to make it adaptable to Filipino settings. Instead of looking for what these foreign styles lack in appropriations, we go around it. Still we, Filipino developers, architects/designers, contractors, and home buyers, continue to finance, design, build, and buy these developments that seem to resemble living overseas despite being ill-fitting with local culture, climate, and available materials. These foreign styles have been created, popularized, and molded for the respective foreign countries. Real estate experts today list popular house style/design in the Philippines and most of which are derivatives or inspired by foreign architecture. Contemporary American in Avida Settings, Modern Asian in Avida Nuvali, Modern Tropical in Antel Grand Village, and Mediterranean in Portofino and Camellas, there seem to be an endless list of foreign-inspired styling that housing developers have come up with to sell to Filipinos.
